Posted Thursday July 18, 2024

Rice County, KS – The Rice County Community Foundation is thrilled to announce Joy McBee as its new Executive Director. With more than 20 years of experience in non-profit leadership, Joy brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to the organization.

Throughout her career, Joy has distributed over 5 million dollars in grant funding to communities across Kansas, focusing on building childcare capacity. Her expertise in grant writing and management has benefited four different organizations, showcasing her dedication to community development. Over the past fourteen years, Joy has concentrated her leadership efforts in Rice County, contributing significantly to family support, healthcare, senior living, and childcare capacity building.

Joy’s roots run deep in Kansas, having grown up on a three-generation farm in Reno County. She has been a resident of Lyons for the past 15 years, where she lives with her husband, Jason McBee, who works for the OneOK Bushton plant. Joy and Jason share a blended family with six children and four grandchildren. In her personal time, Joy enjoys writing, gardening, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, and chasing the sunset on Rice County roads in her Jeep.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Joy McBee as the new Executive Director of the Rice County Community Foundation,” said Craig Zwick, Board Chair of the Rice County Community Foundation. “We look forward to her leading Rice County Community Foundation to its next chapter.”

The Rice County Community Foundation also extends its heartfelt gratitude to Karly Frederick for her nearly four years of dedicated service as Executive Director. Karly has made significant contributions to our community, and we wish her all the best as she embarks on her postgraduate degree in Leadership for Rural Sustainable Development at Queen's University in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
